Design@Large

The Design@Large lecture series features distinguished academic, industry, and civic speakers in design.  The series aims to showcase the ever-evolving, interdisciplinary nature of design in a real-world context. These talks are open and free to the public.

Design@Large was pioneered by Don Norman as a collaborative effort with the UC San Diego faculty who shared the collective vision of drawing together a community of individuals from various disciplines of design to showcase their cutting-edge research and innovative insights.

A new wave of societal challenges, cultural values, and technological advancements is creating exciting opportunities for designers everywhere to make a global impact. The Design@Large series highlights a different central theme within design during the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters to inspire attendees and showcase the brightest minds in the field that are tackling issues impacting humanity.

The current series, Resilience In A Changing World, is hosted by Eliah Aronoff-Spencer, the Center for Health Design (c4h.ucsd.edu) and Resilient Collective (resilient.ucsd.edu).
